As highlighted in March, we are committed to helping all developers succeed and build sustainable businesses. At Google I/O last month, we did this by releasing updates designed to help more users explore your apps and games, and by launching a 15% Fee Rate Hierarchy. Click here to watch a video of the top three highlights of the Google Play update for more details.

We do everything we can to help developers succeed on Google Play and share more updates and developments with you.

Committed to improving the cross-device experience

Users want great content no matter what device they use. The recent launch of Entertainment Space for tablets, the upcoming Wear OS for Samsung watches, the update to Android Auto, and the new discovery experience of Google TV will give developers more opportunities to engage consumers.

We’re excited for developers to be able to extend their services to more devices beyond mobile through Play, which is especially important to users. We are always providing you with programs that help you create innovative experiences. Today, we are opening up Play Media Experience globally to enable more developers to create great cross-device Media experiences, including:

  • Video: high-quality video content for the living room; Integration with Android TV, Google TV, and Google Cast is required;
  • Audio: Ubiquitous music and audio subscription service; Integration with Wear OS, Android Auto, Android TV, and Google Cast is required;
  • Books: A great reading experience on a larger screen; Experience optimization for tablets and foldable devices; Integration with the latest Entertainment Space.

Through these integrations, we offer developers the opportunity to acquire and re-engage users, accelerate their overall growth on Play, and offer a 15% service rate over the planned period, all designed to help developers deliver a great experience.

Developers can now refer to the program guide and express their interest, and we will follow up with more information if you are eligible. The Play Media Experience program integrates many of our other resources for developers, including Google subscriptions for publishers, with our existing enterprise programs and many other programs, such as Play Points and Play Pass, Help us to continuously improve the services provided to users to better meet the needs of developers.
