Cc – Inspector v2.0.0 update, perfect support for all creator versions.

In fact, this version should have been released earlier.

Past lives

It dates back to November 2017, when I brought a new developer to the game. I found that there was no tool at hand to help with troubleshooting when the new developer was debugging the game. It was very time-consuming to solve the problem when I was not familiar with the code.

At that time, I had developed two cocos Creator plugins, and found that other engines had similar auxiliary functions to Inspector, so I came up with the idea of developing a Chrome plugin to challenge me.

After two months of exploration, the first version was released in January 2018.

It was ugly, and it didn’t work, but there was a first version.

then

The plugin wasn’t updated for a long time (mostly due to laziness).

Because when I made this Chrome plugin, I learned to sell the web front end from scratch and nibbled out the first version.

So I chose open source at that time, hoping to find interested partners to improve it together.

The idea was beautiful, the reality was skinny, and for a long time, no one contacted me.

One of the big reasons I didn’t iterate again was that I didn’t get any feedback, didn’t have the motivation to iterate, and didn’t know how many people were using the plugin.

Personally, I don’t use it much, unless I have a really tough problem, and I do have to use it sometimes.

For a very experienced programmer, this is an optional plug-in.

The following

In October 2018, I released a plugin for Inspector Creator.

I had a deeper understanding of the Creator plug-in, so I ported it.

There’s been a big change in the way things are implemented and the technology used, and the fact that the plugin supports Inspector in a non-Web environment is one of the biggest highlights.

Because sometimes you’ll find all sorts of puzzling problems in the app environment that are normal on the Web.

There was no follow-up update. The main reason is:

  • The number of users is actually very small
  • To adapt to each version of Creator, think of heart tired, there are too many holes to fill

Later,

From time to time, I go to the Chrome plugin store to find something I need for work.

Until one day I saw this:

Also tried to contact this developer, but nothing, not want to touch porcelain, is simple understanding.

Later, various versions of Inspector appear on the forums, and you feel proud of the seeds you planted.

One of the things that has kept me from iterating on Inspector chrome is that I haven’t figured out how to work with all the Creator versions.

In this life

Fast forward two years, and I’ve been using the Chrome Store version for most of that time

Since it was light use, I didn’t bother to maintain my original version.

In April 2021, due to the project I participated in, I increasingly found that I had to reconstruct the dusty Inspector to make it more perfect and convenient.

Anyway, it’s so slow in the middle, it’s November 2021.

The first version of V2.0.0 was released with perfect support for all creator versions.

After years of technical training, I’m comfortable with the front end of the Web and able to transform the plugin into a decent one.

conclusion

Four years have passed since November 2017, when I wrote the first line of code, until November 2021. I have a lot of feelings. What makes me remember this event every year?
