How can a business change its business type and/or currency? After a business is created, the business type and currency cannot be changed. Does BeanCounter use accrual or cash accounting? BeanCounter uses accrual-based accounting by default. Use customers and merchants to support accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions. However, if the customer and merchant functions are not used, cash-based accounting can be implemented. How do I show or hide the business Summary view? The summary view shows the main financial numbers of your business. It is located in the lower left corner of the window. To hide the view, click and drag the separator bar to the bottom of the window. To display the view, click and drag the divider bar to the top of the window. How do I sort the list of items on the left side of the business window? First, select an item to activate the list. Next, select View – > Sort By to Sort items By name or manually. Note that if you drag and drop items to a new location, they are automatically sorted.
How does the account change the account type and/or currency? After an account is created, you cannot change the account type or currency. How to close an accounting period? To close accounting periods, open business Settings under the File menu. Select the Accounting TAB, and then select the Closed check box next to the accounting period you want to close. This prevents any edits to transactions contained in the accounting period. If you need to change it later, simply uncheck the closed check box to reopen the accounting period. How do I customize the account view? Select an account and then choose View – > Column or View – > Sort by. Select the columns to display for the account view, the fields to sort, and the sort direction to use. To reorder the field, simply drag and drop the field title to the new location. How do I add or preview a trade attachment? Photos, voice memos and other documents can be added to the transaction as attachments. To add an attachment, edit the transaction. The list of attachments is displayed in the attachment view at the bottom of the window. To add a new attachment, select an item from the menu at the bottom of the attachment table, or drag the file from the Finder into the attachment view. Attachments can be reordered by dragging them to a new location in the list. To view an attachment, select the attachment and press the space bar or double-click the attachment. How do I change the date format? BeanCounter uses the system date format specified in the system preferences application. This setting is located in the Languages and Regions pane under Advanced in the Date TAB. How do I change a decimal separator to a comma or period? BeanCounter uses the system decimal separator specified in the system preferences application. This setting is in the Language and Regions pane under Advanced on the General TAB.
Client why can’t I add new items, tasks, task items, expenses, invoices or transactions? If a parent item is currently selected, only items, tasks, task items, expenses, invoices, and transactions can be added. For example, if a client and a project are currently selected, only tasks can be added. If more than one project is selected, new tasks may not be added. How do I create my own invoice layout? The invoice layout file is a compressed XML (text) file. It may be easier to copy an existing layout file and make changes to it, rather than starting from scratch. To do this, open the Preferences window and select the Layout TAB. Select the invoice, and then click the Action button to export it. Rename the file with the ZIP extension and open the layout.xml file in a text editor. Use the layout format document to change the file. Compress the modified file and give it a unique name (using the bclayout extension). Import the layout file back into BeanCounter.
