On November 23, Typora officially released version 1.0 and entered the charging era.

Version 1.0 is a one-time payment rather than a subscription that costs 89 yuan and can be used on three devices.

Some people may say: spicy chicken, I have used so many years, are used to it, finally want to open?

No, Typora has never been open source, let alone committed to free for life, so this is not a surprise.

Typora to me

I started using Typora in 2017, and it’s been going from bad to worse.

I have written over 400 articles on Typora and am a heavy user of Typora, so I am very grateful that someone created such an almost perfect piece of software.

I think back to the first time I downloaded the trial Typora, I was not very good at using it and wondered why there were no double columns.

Normally MD editors, edit on the left and preview on the right, instead of rendering what you write, don’t do double columns.

What you see is what you get from today’s (2021) perspective, and even now, there is no rival that can beat, let alone how cutting-edge it was back then.

I have been using Typora for nearly 5 years. Now I cannot leave Typora, and I have been using it for several reasons.

First, what you see is what you get

Without the traditional double column mode, more in line with the writing habit.

Second, be open enough

Compared to many Markdown editors such as MWeb, Bear and Typora, themes are allowed to be customized as long as you know a bit about CSS

The following is my Typora personal theme modified based on the theme of minority, which is consistent with the typesetting quality of the public account.

Third, simple enough

Typora does not interfere with the content too much, there is no need to register an account, all the data is stored locally, there is no synchronization mechanism (in my opinion, this is an advantage)

Fourth, map bed support

Can connect to iPic, uPic and PicGo and other well-known graph bed tools, but also support Custom Comand, this for integration of more third-party plug-ins to provide convenience!

Fifth, version management

I remember once, when I was writing an article of more than 10,000 words (it is really more than 10,000 words, not including the code), I accidentally deleted the content of the article, no matter how much Command + Z backtracking failed, finally I found the historical version in the version management side, I was almost surprised.

Version management, for articles, may not be very useful, but it can be very, very important in special situations.

What is updated in the new version?

So what are some of the epic new features that came with paid version 1.0? Can the author release it as the first paid version?

I took a peek at CHANGELOG, and it was so “mediocre” that I couldn’t believe it was a paid version.

To sum up, there are only two points:

1. Support ARM Windows and Linux

  1. Provides a switch to enable or disable line breaking with \ when editing mathematical formulas

The new version has a 15-day trial period, and the last free version is 0.11.18, which can be downloaded here at iswbm.com/600.html

But the author of What’s New? A special thanks goes out to all the testers who have been using Typora and helping Typora get better over the years

And the most noteworthy, perhaps many people do not know, in fact, Typora is a Chinese developed software.

The author is Abner Lee. There is not much introduction of the author on the Internet. I found the author’s account on Zhihu, but there is very little dynamic information, and the only dynamic information about Typora is the following answer.

It can be seen that the author has been making products with his heart. If the products are well done, there is no need for too many marketing means. Typora’s success today really depends on word of mouth.

Best of all, the author can last 6 years with love power, and for that alone, I’m willing to pay for it even though version 1.0 doesn’t have a lot of flashy new features!
