In November 2017, we predicted that “with current trends, PWA will lead to a large demand for Web apps, and a big front-end technology reshuffle may be just around the corner.” At the time, some readers were concerned about Apple’s official attitude.

Apple’s official attitude will undoubtedly have a strong impact on the further development of the PWA, so we are keeping a close eye on it.

In December 2017, we were surprised to see that Apple was no longer quietly working on the Service Worker. In the Safari 46 Technical Preview, the Service Worker will be enabled by default in the new desktop version of Safari! Safari supports Service Workers, How long before PWA Breaks out?

This time the news is even more dramatic: Apple is officially adding support for Service workers to iOS 11.3 and macOS 10.13.4, as well as adding support to the desktop (Web App Manfiest)!

Although we knew it was only a matter of time before Service workers were supported on iOS, what was surprising was how quickly Apple moved to support PWA!

For those of you who don’t know what this means, what it means is that you can add a PWA-enabled site to your desktop via Safari, generate an icon, just like an App installed from the App Store, tap on the icon, there’s an opening animation, there’s no browser address bar, and even more surprisingly, It can also be used offline, and it’s pretty much like a native App, without having to install a 100+MB App.

In addition to supporting these features, the PWA is really about user experience at its core, so don’t worry about having a bad experience.

Apple’s attitude is not only clear, and the pace is amazing, PWA outbreak should be this year!

In order to help PWA quickly land in China, we provide a Vue based PWA solution – Lavas, welcome to join us, interested students to discuss PWA!
