Focus is Apple’s most extensive overhaul of push notifications to date. Using this feature, you can choose who is allowed to contact you at a particular time, what applications you see on the screen while you work, and so on.

What devices can Focus be used on?

Focus is available for all iPhones that support iOS 15 or higher. Apple also added the Focus tool to all iPados 15 devices.

In addition to the iPhone and iPad, Apple will also integrate the Focus with MacOS Monterey-enabled computers and a select Apple Watch running WatchOS 8.

What is the Focus of Apple Focus?

Apple chose to introduce the Focus to give users more control over their phones. This feature also allows you to adapt to different situations, such as receiving work-related notifications only during office hours.

In addition to customization, the idea of Focus is to help users avoid distractions. The tool helps people achieve this goal by not displaying irrelevant notifications until the appropriate time.

How does the focus work?

Apple’s new solution lets you pick and choose what to focus on at different times of the day. You can choose from a range of default options, such as:

work

Personal time

Go to bed

During a particular focus period, the interface of the device ADAPTS to match it. For example, you can choose to receive work-related notifications only when you are in the office.

Similarly, you can display only fitness-related apps while exercising.

Is the Focus automated or customized?

Focus offers a mix of automation and your own personal choices.

Apple customizes features in a variety of ways. One of them is location: Your device will ask you if you want to turn on the work version of Focus when you arrive at the office, if you’re near a gym you use a lot, your device will ask you if you want to turn on the fitness version, and so on.

Another way to intelligently drive focus is at a specific time. For example, if you usually exercise at 7 a.m., Apple might suggest that you turn on the relevant Focus mode on your phone.

Although Apple uses intelligence to help better customize the Focus, you can still add your own style. In addition to creating custom schemas, you can also select the applications that you want to include in each schema.

By default, Focus syncs on all supported devices where you log in with your Apple ID. But, for example, if you only want to use certain Settings on your iPhone, you can toggle those Settings so they don’t cross sync.

Get even better with Apple’s new iOS 15 feature

Apple combines intelligence with personal preference to give users greater control over the notifications they receive on their devices.

With custom notifications, home screens, etc., those who take full advantage of Focus will find that they are more productive and less distracted.
