Primary default control

1. Position Smoothing

Three different position smoothing modes are provided and you can easily control the number of them. This section allows you to select the smoothing method for the current preset. Use the checkbox to enable position smoothing, and then select a mode from the drop-down list.

The Chinese interface is

The following sections describe each pattern.

Note that some smoothing presets do not use these Settings and rely on scripts instead (weighted smoothing is such a preset).

Mode

  • Pulled String:

Imagine your brush being pulled by a string of a certain length. The brush will only move when the string is tight (when you move the cursor beyond the length of the string). This pattern is useful for slow, detailed work with sharp corners;

  • Moving Average distance:

The model calculates the average position from a fixed number of last input samples. This Amount is set by the Amount control. In this mode, you can enable the capture setting so that when you stop moving the stylus, the line drawn with the pen will catch up to the current position. When chasing, the straight line will retain directional momentum, making it easy to close the circle. If you want the line to fade to the point where you lift the pen, add some pressure smoothing. This mode is ideal for dynamic work with curves and soft corners.

  • Index Moving Average:

The model computes the weighted average position of all previous input samples, and the weights decay exponentially over time. The amount of smoothing is also set using the quantity control. This mode has a slightly different feel to the average distance traveled, but you can use it to smooth out the lines if needed. This mode can also use the capture setting, but it behaves slightly differently than the moving average: when you stop moving your stylus, the line will catch up with a straighter line than the moving average, and it does a lot of smoothing, which is great for long curves.

Catch Up

It is an option available in MA and EMA modes. With this feature enabled, the line will automatically catch up with the pen when the pen is stopped or lifted

Guides

Here, you can enable lines and cursors when drawing. Since there is some lag due to position smoothing, this can help you see where your pen is actually and where it is going.

  • Line – Draws a line from the processed position to the actual pen position.
  • Cursor – Draws a small circle cursor at the actual pen position.
  • Color – Edit for the color of the guide and the light.
