In the elastic module of this test, witnessed by the staff of ICT, Aliyun completed the expansion of 10,000 cloud servers within 1106 seconds (about 18 minutes) with the elastic scaling tool.

To create thousands of cloud servers in a short time, the cloud platform control system needs to bear huge pressure instantly. Continuous creation means that the system is under constant high pressure and is easy to collapse. “It’s like a guy running 100 meters in 15 seconds is not difficult. His body recovers quickly, but it’s very difficult to keep running at that pace.” Ali Cloud elastic computing engineer stressed, “This is only under certain conditions of capacity expansion speed, ordinary users on the cloud capacity expansion faster.”

Most of the applications that are closely related to us, such as shopping on Taobao, inquiring about train tickets, browsing weibo hot spots, ordering food delivery and watching online videos, are deployed on the cloud. The operation of these Internet services requires cloud servers. The more users access these services, the more cloud servers are needed, such as online shopping promotion, sudden hot spots and other moments, often accompanied by instant traffic surge, need to open a large number of cloud servers in a short time to support.

One of the benefits of cloud computing is resilience, and one of the main measures of resilience is the dynamic delivery capability of cloud servers — the ability to scale up and down quickly. This can help enterprises timely undertake instantaneous flow, and timely release, avoid idle, greatly saving the cost of enterprise computing.

According to the statistics of daily user usage scenarios, the capacity expansion of 10,000 servers is basically the peak capacity expansion demand of current normal services, which reflects the capacity expansion capability provided by cloud vendors.
