Artificial intelligence is advancing so fast that many people feel threatened. But in fact, we might be more concerned about the growth of tech giants than about being replaced

“Until people see robots walking down the road killing people, they don’t know how to react because it sounds so unreal.” Elon Musk, tesla’s chief executive officer and a man of steel, has not once publicly voiced his concerns about THE development of AI, and his strong stance has stirred much unease and debate amid the AI boom.

For some, “artificial intelligence” might evoke the emotion-conscious robots of science fiction movies, and worry about the possible impact of AI mental development on human society. But even if AI sounds technological and futuristic, we might want to know, before deciding whether to panic, what exactly is AI?

Artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning?

Deep learning actually extends from the field of machine learning, which is just a branch of artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence was first developed by engineers writing programs and giving instructions to machines to solve problems. But processes are written by people, and machines cannot find solutions to problems that engineers cannot solve.

The emergence of machine learning allows people to feed a computer a large amount of sorted and screened data, so that it can analyze and optimize the path by itself, so as to achieve purposes such as image recognition and strategy analysis, improve the decision-making network in self-learning, and break through the limitations limited to human programming in the past.

Machine learning then branched out into deep learning. Similarly, a large amount of data is released for self-learning, but neural networks are developed by simulating human neuronal links, enabling machines to perform specific functional tasks with better judgment than humans. For example, this technology is used behind Alpha Go.

History of Artificial Intelligence

The practical application of artificial intelligence

Specifically, how will companies use these technologies?

Take Amazon, which is the most active in AI development, as an example. Unlike in the past, when it only analyzed big data to obtain user preferences and make dynamic pricing, Amazon developed services related to image recognition and voice assistant. And launched Amazon Rekognition, Amazon Polly, Amazon Lex cloud AI services.

Above, Chen Ruchu’s humble opinion! I’m sorry if I offended you.
