I feel itchy to see everyone’s year-end summary. I also want to summarize my life after graduation.

If I could sum up my 2021 in one sentence, it would probably be both painful and happy.

graduation

Little brother is 2020 coastal city ordinary undergraduate graduation. Everyone knows 2020 is the year of disappearance. It was also a tough year for those who graduated that year.

Because of the sudden outbreak of the epidemic, the school cancelled the internship, all students have to go home, can not go out. Not to mention the fact that I haven’t found an internship yet. From the outbreak to the restriction of internship, just a few months, the little brother began to panic. Worse than the test the next day and studying the night before. After all, graduation is a big exam, and I only read the first chapter of the exam.

In the epidemic trapped at home time, little brother panic, little brother’s parents panic more. In such an atmosphere, little brother began to learn. Study for 6-10 hours a day. At least, the Java foundation + Spring + SpringBoot learning.

Society’s first beating

Internship restrictions were slightly relaxed in May. The young sword is already a river’s lake before he goes out properly. The younger brother is a little timid, but also determined. Little brother set foot on the journey to find a job. About to receive the first leg of the social beating.

The first interview, the little brother is ready to be beaten up, but who knows, really feel the sense of suffocation. The interviewer basically couldn’t answer any of the questions, stammered, and was mortified.

Interviewer: You talk about three features of Java

Me: Encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism (kinda snicky, I memorized)

Interviewer: Tell me what you think of them.

Me: Package, is a package… (Now I feel embarrassed to scratch my feet and force myself to explain)

Interviewer: Ok, you can go home. We’ll let you know the result of the interview later.

I ran away from the first company I interviewed with. When I left, I saw the interviewer’s face, which seemed to say, “I can’t even answer that. I’m wasting my time coming to the interview with such preparation.” When I got home, I lay in bed ashamed, feeling useless. Obviously university also participated in a lot of interviews, how can the interview so sparse broken.

After the first interview, we started the crazy interview + learning mode. On average, I interview two companies every day. After the interview, I will learn, take out the recording of the interview and review the questions. I will go over them in my head, and then if the interviewer asks the same question next time, how should I answer. All I dream about at night are interview questions.

Interview more often! There will always be blind people

After two weeks, there was a glimmer of light in the darkness of frequent interviews. The company basically answered the questions it asked and had a good chat with the tech lead. When the interviewer asked the younger brother’s expected salary, the younger brother said 4K. The interviewer was very shocked and said, “Our development salary is not so low. I will give you a higher price when the internship becomes regular.” Little brother a little glad + regret. Turns out he’s worth a lot of money.

With this offer at the bottom of the offer, my little brother did not panic, the next interview did not lose heart, mentality is also relaxed. I also got several offers one after another. After the crazy interview, I got three offers and finally chose a high salary one. Because I think he’s very discerning. (Childish, was the back of the beatings laid no small foundation)

I joined my first company

The company has only five developers. A manager (architect), an advanced back end, an advanced front end, a C++, and a junior brother. No testing, no UI, no product. One month after the junior was hired, the senior backend left due to salary issues. Little brother stupid, all advanced back-end work, little brother to do. My little brother didn’t even understand the business logic of the project, so he started to develop it. Fortunately, the front brother explained the business logic. In addition to development, you need to install the project’s environment on top of the virtual machine. Because, the system we developed is for a steel plant in Guangxi, material in and out of the system. Basic is architects to work in the morning every day moving a chair sitting behind me, see me knock code, from time to time would ask “why do you write, so why not write (little bro can scalp)”, is in the afternoon on the virtual machine environment, especially the Oracle, installation failed several times, all sorts of baidu, various attempts. I would get home at about 9 o ‘clock every evening, and then I would watch the learning videos on B website. (Don’t know a lot of really, crazy learning)

The beatings have begun

So passed three months, because the steel plant pressed tight, the younger brother, front-end elder brother and manager to the site deployment environment + development. Because the project has been delayed, and Party A is relatively strong, so the crazy increase demand, and the manager is too confident in the project, thought that it doesn’t matter to add a small demand, but it is these flashy demands that overwhelm us. At that time, our development intensity was basically 16 hours a day plus, yes, you read that right 16 hours plus. During the day, we would develop functions at the company’s site, and at night, after the leaders of the steel plant came off work, we would go into the steel plant to test new functions (because we could not be known by the leaders of the steel plant that our development progress was still so backward). If the evening can end at 11 o ‘clock, we are very happy, because we don’t have to stay up late. This is a wild hope, basically have to wait until one or two points from the end, back to the hotel, hastily take a bath and sleep. I worked for over 30 days without a day’s rest.

Project yellow

Because of the long delay of the project, plus the outrageous manager’s all kinds of fancy operations, and our group’s resistance to travel. The project fell through. The month before the project, all of us left on the same day (eight of us quit because we were forced to travel).

The beating of love

Advise you one, do not touch the unreliable love, do not get along with the heart out of the lung, garbage love is definitely more tired than working overtime. I hope you all meet your love.

A new life

After leaving, I spent some time traveling and thinking about what I had gained in this company. Basic use of Springboot, Oracle, Nginx, Redis, WebSorcet, activeMq, environment deployment, troubleshooting methods. All in all, the harvest was pretty good. Living! Always give you a stick, give you a date. Because of the growth in the old company, my little brother found a listed company, the income treatment increased by 40% than before, but also do not need to work overtime every day, have their own life.

advice

Here are some suggestions for those who are about to graduate

1: if you can go to big companies, don’t go to small companies. All kinds of non-standard development and unscientific configuration of small companies will torment you crazily, and they are unstable and may crash at any time.

2: in their own energy to allow the scope of the interview, the interview after a review, accumulate a certain amount of experience, you will not panic when you meet the interviewer.

3. You need to practice some other skills besides technique. Like communication. Communication is very important, if you learn to communicate, your career path will be much smoother.

4. Be confident. Believe in yourself, you are not worse than others, others can, why not you.
