background

In 2021, it has been three years since I graduated from graduate school and three years since I worked in front-end development. Three years is neither too long nor too short, which is equivalent to the time of a graduate student, and can be regarded as a stage of life. In these three years, I have experienced the identity transformation from campus to workplace, from student to migrant worker. In the three years of working life, I learned a lot of knowledge, but also had a lot of growth.

Record into the pit

Graduate life had nothing, no goal, in the second year, facing the problem of getting a job, read the graduate student professional is electronic science and technology, the counterpart units is to communication companies such as huawei, mobile telecommunications, but at Beijing university, graduated from the school most people went to Internet companies, plus the Internet wave, I decided to after graduation to work as a programmer.

Decide to be a programmer, the problem comes, programmers also have many subdivision positions, such as front-end, back-end, algorithm, big data, etc., how to determine which to choose? Utopian thinking cannot solve the problem, so I asked some senior students I know to understand the work content of each subdivision, the technical reserve needed, the way of preparation, and the difficulties that may be encountered. I decided to do front-end development.

Why do you choose the front end? The main reason is that it’s a little bit more visual. If you write HTML, you can see it in the browser. It’s easier to get started, so it’s a pit. After confirming to do the front-end, I began to study by myself. At the beginning, I watched the introductory videos of HTML and CSS in MOOCs, and then WROTE some static style websites by myself. After understanding the basic style layout and HTML tags, began to learn JS, bought a JS elevation look, look again, and then began to look at the framework, when it is to see everyone recommended Vue, look at the official document of Vue. And then the second year on the past, to the summer vacation began to look for an internship.

School recruitment and internship experience

My first internship was in the secondary financial sub-department of a state-owned enterprise. At that time, I used JQery as the technical stack, and my job was to help reconstruct projects and separate the front and back ends. The daily work is to change the front-end written in Java to JQery, and the time is very tight, no technical content, all physical work. About two months into my internship, I went to interview the next company and moved on.

My second internship was in an Internet finance startup, using Angular as the framework. At that time, fewer and fewer people were using Angular, and the learning curve was steep, making it difficult to get started. The internship department was not particularly busy. I was assigned to the front-end infrastructure group and spent the first month reading Angular framework documents, learning how to use Angular, and reading common library components written in the group and writing usage documents for common library components. About a month later, I started to do requirements, when it was an internal interface platform, it was relatively simple in general, and then it was the autumn recruitment season, and I started to look for jobs.

In fact, many excellent students in our school got many offers in advance, because they started late, so they can only apply in autumn. Although I went to school in Beijing, I knew that it was very difficult to get Beijing hukou, so I didn’t consider staying in Beijing. Shanghai is this year’s unripe had better take registered permanent residence, cent was enough to go, decide to work to Shanghai then. After making the decision, I applied for many posts in Shanghai. Finally, I got an offer from the second or third line Internet, so I finished the autumn recruitment and went back to school to write my thesis.

First Job

My first job after graduation was in a second or third-tier Internet enterprise in Shanghai. My work intensity was ok, 985 most of the time, and 995 a few of the time. Although I do front-end work, I also need to do some back-end work. The technical stack is React+Python, and I mainly do some in-group tools. As front-end support personnel belong to the back-end group, their requirements are not complicated, so I just do some forms, visual charts and so on. Then you have to write some database queries and data return interfaces in Python.

Generally speaking, this job is relatively easy, and I can learn something by myself 50% of the time, and the leader is nice. However, about one year after I joined the company, the boss of the report line changed again and the group changed. Besides, many colleagues left their jobs, and the work content remained unchanged, so I began to prepare for job-hopping.

job-hopping

When I was ready for job-hopping, I began to prepare for it. I consulted my colleagues who had successfully changed their jobs about how to prepare for it. At that time, I knew the nuggets and my colleagues recommended me to read more interviews, invest more in companies and go to interviews.

At the beginning of 2010, I began to prepare for job-hopping. However, the Chinese New Year came soon after the preparation. Then the epidemic broke out, and I was trapped at home and started working from home. In fact, working from home is very painful, because the Internet is not good, VPN special card, fortunately, not too much work, the salary is paid, so it is not too panic. However, working at home disrupts the study plan. There is no motivation at home and the study efficiency is extremely low.

When I returned to Shanghai in early April, I went back to work and prepared again. During this period, I looked at JS elevation several times, found many classics on the Internet, recorded the high-frequency questions and studied them repeatedly. Because some companies also ask algorithms, they brush the offer three times on niuker, and then start to send resumes at the end of the year.

Because I heard from my HR friends that it is best to push your resume internally. If you upload your resume through some public channels, it will be detected by the HR of the company and you will find someone to push it internally. I worked for three companies in the past year. I wanted to try my hand and come back after the New Year, but I got a good offer. I finished the interview and went home happily for the Spring Festival. I joined my current company after the Spring Festival.

conclusion

Looking back, generally speaking, I did not make any great achievements. I just followed the trend and moved forward silently. I hope I can have more ideas in the future.
