What is a resume? In my opinion, before the interview, directly represent you as a person. While a resume doesn’t speak for itself, the content gives the interviewer a direct mental picture of you. Some students asked, do you need a picture? In fact, in the head of the right part of the blank, it can be hung. However, I suggest that boys do not hang photos (of course, if you have Daniel Wu’s style, forget me), girls can properly hang id photos, the premise is that the level of appearance is one of your major advantages.
Of course, some state-owned enterprises and public institutions will force you to post photos, so there you go. But don’t just stick it up with a photo shoot. Go to a regular photo studio and put on your makeup. It’s a good place to start.
Education background

Project experience
Those who are looking for Internet jobs must have brushed the book “Sword point Offer”. The questions in the book are still very high in the interview process. However, many students only read the title part of it, for the first two chapters may be skimmed, or even directly skipped over. In fact, the first two chapters of the book, on how to interview, are equally well written and worth studying.
In this article, we will not talk about the interview, but only the resume. But there is one very good point in the book — the STAR model that describes the project:
It is OK to write the item of project experience according to this model.
Start with a brief, clear description of the background of the project, why it is being done, Situation.
Then tell me which area you are responsible for and what valuable work you have done. Learn to refine this area, not just a simple list of work, try to make people feel that it is technical content, including tasks and actions;
At the end of the day, whether it’s 100 times better performance or going from zero to one to complete some complex system, it depends on how you put it in numbers. For example, I went through a series of optimizations to reduce the system response time by 50%, or to double the response time to 1 ms on average, etc.
Here’s an example:
The first line, brief information about the project. First of all, we should consider the start and end time of the project. Too long may appear to be inefficient, and too short may appear to be not in-depth. Not to teach you not to be honest, this appropriate “optimization” is not too big a problem; And then the location, it could be school, it could be company, it could be real; Then the project name, which is short and clear; Finally, your role, which can be general project manager, key participant, project leader, etc., is not too grandiose and not too low.
Next, project introduction. The main point is to clarify the background of what you are doing. Note that instead of saying “this is a lab project requirement” or “my teacher assigned me to do this,” write about the background of the project, what progress the industry has made, what problems the project will solve, and what its value is. Some projects are rubbish, but you have to write a good profile because it represents your level, right?
Next, personal responsibilities. Start with a general sentence, such as being responsible for the overall architecture of the system, and end with a full stop, which is the general beginning, followed by more detailed explanations. For example, to fully investigate relevant systems on the market, repeatedly design and modify, design a set of high availability, high performance, extensible system architecture. Generally want to list three points, more is too long, less appears less workload. So, pick the most important points, for example, how many times the performance of an algorithm you’ve designed and implemented.
Finally, project results. Make sure you pick the highlight, and make sure you can quantify it. Common things are how many times the performance is improved, how many concurrency is supported, how many users are supported, the unavailability time is 0, how many articles are published and patented…
Important words and numbers are highlighted in bold. These are the things you’re good at, and they’re the things the interviewer might ask you. So if you want him to ask you anything, make it bold!
Personal skills
Make a list of your skills, especially if they are job-related. If you’re looking for an Internet job, “familiar with Office operations” might not be appropriate. Can write: familiar with common data structures and algorithms, familiar with C/C++, familiar with mysql/ COdis/ETCD/Zookper……
English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills can also be written, for example, “proficient in English listening, speaking, reading and writing”.
The only caveat is that you don’t and shouldn’t write “proficient.” “Proficient” is a very strong word that very few people can achieve. This is not a question of modesty. It’s also an issue of expectation management, where “proficient” and “familiar” are expected differently from the interviewer.
If you write “familiar with Golang,” then when the interviewer asks you an in-depth question (such as how Golang’s map expanded) and you answer it, he or she will think you are highly skilled and humble. Instead, you wrote “Golang mastery.” If you fail to answer a single question during an interview, it will leave a lasting impression.
He also wrote “proficient in C/C++”, after all, even the author of C++ does not fully grasp the features of C++, even the C++ compiler does not support all features. In other words, even a compiler can’t be said to be proficient in C++.
Personal assessment
In this column, you can show your characteristics beyond your job skills. For example, I saw a senior write:
The head teacher in high school appraised me like this: you are a person who is strict with himself, a person who is sincere and united, and a person with lofty aspirations.
The interviewer may ask: Why does the teacher say that? At this point, he will fall into the hole you dug in advance, because a story that will show your best qualities is waiting for him, which you have prepared in advance and rehearsed countless times. Plus, you have the interview process under control.
Be careful, not too much, not too grandiose, and focus on showing that you are cooperative, good at communicating, and a positive worker.
Other matters
Here’s the rest of the unfinished business.
College resumes are usually only one page long, and even if you have a lot of content to write, you can only narrow it down to one page. Save the most important parts of your resume that show off your skills.
Social recruitment resumes should not be more than two pages, so that they are concise and show high-quality projects, not a simple list, to summarize and sublimate. It can also be printed on a single page for the convenience of the interviewer — and, in other words, yourself.
At work, a very important ability is to summarize, refine, and sublimate. Maybe the lab project is the horizontal project of some enterprises, that is, 1+1=2, very simple, you may feel that there is nothing to write. This is where you put your best foot forward and try to make something great out of the routine. If not, take a look at the resume of an outstanding senior.
In short, the project you put on your resume must have been summarized and refined, and you will need to revise it numerous times.
There is also a point to note that the resume sent to others must be in PDF format, some students directly throw the Word version to others, different software versions of the computer may have compatibility problems ah, there may be garbled, and word version may be tampered with. In addition, when printing your resume, you should also use the PDF version, so there will be no problems.
Resume file naming is also a point to pay attention to. Generally use “code nong Taohuayuan – Taohuayuan studio – 1888888888888”, that is, “name – school/company – mobile phone” such format. This will make it easier for the HR or the interviewer to contact you, because just looking at the file name will give you your contact information and some of the most important information. Again, making it easier for the interviewer is making it easier for you.
Another point is that your resume should be different for different positions. In this case, you can combine your projects so that different resumes for different jobs can be tailored for different portfolios. Some people maintain different versions of their resumes with different branches of Git.
