But there are both opportunities and risks, and startups offer lots of options to attract talent. If you want to achieve high returns and even financial freedom, you have to take big risks.
So total revenue: cash + risk factor * stock/option value. Also consider your time ratio.
That’s a lack of money for me right now, but not a lack of money for a job. How to put it, the basic material of life is guaranteed, but the higher needs cannot be met, and these extra needs cannot be met by changing jobs. So money is not an important consideration.

The personal quality of Internet employees is relatively high, plus the professional degree of work is relatively high, so it is relatively simple, there are not so many messy worldly wisdom to deal with. So it was nice to get along.
However, there is a magnetic field between people, not everyone can match your temper, meet the right leader, similar colleagues is not so easy, and it takes time to establish a relationship. This is a minus for job hopping.
things
There are two parts to it, one is a sense of accomplishment and the other is an opportunity for personal growth. It is usually said that borrow people to accomplish things, borrow things to fix people.
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is self-actualization. For Internet people, besides sleeping, more than 70% of the time is spent at work, so self-realization must be realized at work.
That is for me personally, relatively stable business, relatively high certainty, there is no prospect of development is not attractive. Hope is challenging work, can do things successfully, and can play an important role in it.
Personal growth is the future. Personal growth does not happen overnight and is not easily perceived in the short term. But it’s very important, the Internet updates so fast, you don’t keep up and you’re out. For the widely spread programmer growth route, 3 years of high engineering, 7 years of architecture, 10 years of take-out.

- The career development curve of Internet people is different from that of other industries. In a field of rapid development and new knowledge, individuals can never catch up with the development level of the industry.

Job-hopping expectations
The idea of changing jobs is dissatisfaction with the current situation, but changing a new environment does not mean the solution of the problem. This is why many people often complain about the company, but do not move. We can’t hope for the unknown. In particular, the Internet has been on the decline since the end of 2018, and the employment environment is not good. In addition, due to the epidemic this year, the external environment has become even worse.
But a bad environment does not mean that individuals are bad. A lot of uncertainty doesn’t mean there’s no certainty. Human life is spent in constant choice, we must understand ourselves, grasp the key, match themselves with the environment.
So what are my personal expectations, and will the new job meet them?
The career development
Confused before whether to do programmers, can switch to product, consulting, pre-sales. Now I can’t say that I have always done technology, but I have found some development rules.
- I will no longer be engaged in low-level technologies such as BIG data and BI. I even got the offer of big data engineer three years ago, but now I have an in-depth understanding of operation and maintenance and middleware related work. Completely eliminated the technology development on the technical side.
- Problem-driven, problem-oriented, as close to the business as possible. Drive business through technology, solve business problems by non-technology means.
This is a big breakthrough I made in the past two years, which eliminated what I would not do and what I would try to explore.
industry
The industry is too wide, toC is not good to do now, the giants crowded the user’s time. ToB is more difficult, tool efficiency, domestic willingness to pay is not strong at present, can help enterprises to bring income development.
At present, I am not so dedicated to the specific industry. The expectation is to be able to get into an industry at some point and see how Internet technology can solve the problem, form a closed loop and get things done. The sense of accomplishment was enough to excite me. Because over the years, I have done various start-up projects in different companies, but none of them succeeded. All of them died due to various reasons. Because of this, I know how difficult and not easy it is to start a business.
After analyzing myself and clarifying my current career goals, I successfully changed my job in the spring and summer of 2020.
