A friend recently told me that she just got a MacBook Pro but didn’t see any significant improvements over a Windows PC. I couldn’t understand why everyone was talking so much about the Mac. So I asked her a list of questions, and it wasn’t that the Mac didn’t work, it was that she couldn’t use it.

At her request, I’ve compiled a list of 12 must-haves to make the Mac more convenient, so that those who are just getting used to it can appreciate the benefits of the Mac

1. The screenshots

  • CMD +shift+3: take a screenshot of the entire screen;
  • Cmd +shift+4: Take a screenshot of the selected area;
  • CMD +shift+4+space: Take a screenshot of the selected application interface window.
  • Use Snip scrolling screenshots to achieve a long screenshot of a web page

2. Automatically hide the program Dock

If you’re a serious geek who finds the Dock unattractive, or just want to hide it to save space, there are a few simple steps you can take:

Open System Preferences Select Dock and click to automatically show and hide Dock

After setting, only the mouse will touch the bottom to call up the program Dock (Dock), if not used to the original path back to cancel.

3. Split screen function

Split screen function, can let us more reasonable and effective arrangement of the application window, improve work efficiency.

  • Mac in split screen

Press and hold the green full-screen button in the upper left corner of any open window.

When you hold down this button, the window shrinks and you can drag it to the left or right side of the screen.

Release the button and then tap on the other window to use the two Windows side by side or to adjust the proportions of the two pages.

  • If you have an idle iPad, you can take advantage of it, using the Duet Display to turn the iPad into a second screen for the Mac

4. Batch change file names

For me, the best use of this feature is the batch change replacement function, which comes in handy when you need to change a name for a bunch of images.

5. Remote assistance

There are many times when we need remote assistance, such as downloading a cracked version of software but never installing it, or asking a technology guru who is not around for help, he can control your computer through his computer to remotely help you operate.

TeamViewer is an excellent remote assistance software; The Mac also comes with a built-in remote assistance program called Screen Sharing, which also works well. This feature is turned off by default, so be sure to turn it on first to search for Screen Sharing in Spotlight.

6. Record the screen

You can record the screen on your Mac using QuickTime Player, which comes with the Mac

Search for QuickTime Player in Spotlight

Click the new screen recording and click the recording button in the middle to start recording.

7. IPhone projects onto Mac

The screen of some videos on mobile phones is too small, and the system will not recommend suitable videos on Mac because I haven’t downloaded APP. Therefore, I like to project the videos from Station B onto Mac to watch. You also need to use QuickTime Player

The difference with the above operation is that you can connect the iPhone and Mac with the data cable first. You can select your own iPhone on the right side to achieve it

8. In the document editing state, change the location of the file name

Many photos and documents can be edited directly to change the file name and storage location.

9. Use a Guest Account to protect privacy

You can set up a Guest account when you lend someone your Mac. This will allow them to log in without a password, but once they have logged out they will be on your Mac once they have finished using it. Everything you’ve done on your account will be erased, leaving no trace, and no one will have any permission to see the content of your account, such as documents, videos, etc. This allows you to safely hand over your Mac to others without worrying about your privacy.

10. Parental control

As the name suggests, you can use parental controls, limit usage time, access Finder features, App use, and more, and explore how to play if you need to.

11. Clear Safari browsing history with one click

You don’t want Safari to remember what you’ve visited by clicking away.

12. Traceless browsing mode
